What if Troy was Flash’s son?

This is a FanFic I wrote for :iconwild-hearts: contest, I started this the very day she announced it :D I remember the first time I ever saw her work, I though Flash and Troy were family of some sort ( I’m not really sure why I though of it ^.^” I just kind of did) Anyway, this is a bit lengthy in size and I’m sorry for that : ( but I had to because I really don’t have the best drawing ability. :iconsweatplz: as can be seen from my picture above.(Note: I did use a reference picture) I’m not the greatest at coloring and shading, plus that background kinda makes me cringe! But alas, I tried my very hardest >.<

Alrighty, onto the story! :3 I shall talk more about it at the end.

“TROY-”
“Please hunnie, come this way!”
He stood there, stock still, watching as the two strangers fought desperately to get to him. His father was fighting furiously with the other stallion, a stallion’s whose coat was so dark it seemed to blend in with the dark starry night.
A wave of terror overcame the poor colt, he did not know what to do, who to help, or where to go. His mother pressed herself close to him, trying to shield him from the scene, but the nightmare was impossible to turn away from. In one swift move, his father had torn the throat out of the opposing stallion. Falling hardly to the ground he lay unmoving, only his eyes feverously moved back and forth.
The mare that had come with him, stood there, her eyes, though covered by her wavy white mane, were wide with terror and fear. The dying stallion uttered only a few words.
“No, please” * he coughed * “Flash, don’t take him, don’t take my” * he spoke through hacking blood*” …son” His words were nearly muted as a harsh wind blew.

*GASP *

He awoke to the sun’s blinding rays, and the wind’s cold crisp chill. His dear mother was by him, worry etched in her whole figure.
“Are you alright, dear?” The roan asked, lowering her head to nuzzle the spooked colt.

“Yes mother, I…I just had that nightmare again” Troy asked, looking up at his mother with pleading eyes. Shifting slightly, the mare looked back down at him with a smile and comforting words.

“Do not worry my little one it was only a dream, soon they will pass” she spoke, laying down next to him and used her body to shield him from the wind. Troy looked up to her again before laying his head back down. He felt something stir in his belly. Some deep sore emotion he had never felt before. Though he was young, he decided he did not like the feeling. His mother, as though sensing it, simply laid her head next to him, breathing long comforting breaths. They lay like that for a while, both quiet as they watched the sun slowly begin to rise.

Their peace was broken however, when a white stallion came trotting over with a particularly bored expression on his face.
“Violet, Flash as ordered me to ask that he see Troy alone” Ace spoke, with a bored monotone, if there was one thing he hated it was being a messenger boy.

Violet gave a short glance to Troy before getting up and walking towards the other mares. The little palomino watched her, then stood up on his legs and began to head towards his father. Ace followed him for a bit, but as he got closer he saw Flash glaring at him, sending him hidden messages to which Ace understood. He trotted off to his regular guard position and prepared his long tirade of what a poor life he had.

As Troy approached, Flash lazily glanced down at him then back to the herd. This was how most of their meetings went. It seemed as if his father did not have the time to even have a conversation. He stood next to his father quietly, watching the herd just as the adult stallion was.

“The other foals tease you, don’t they?” Flash asked suddenly, still looking straight ahead at his herd, his followers. Startled by this abrupt question, the colt was unsure how to answer. However, remembering his father’s temper about not answering questions quickly and to the point, he figured honesty was the best.

“Only sometimes, they laugh cause I don’t look like you or mother. They say my hair’s to curly to be a Hanoverian.” A long silence followed his response, during which Troy fidgeted nervously. Making his father upset for whatever reason, was defiantly not a good thing to do. He reasoned that is father was angry with him, even the smallest of things could set him off, and this must have been one of them. He worried like that for the next couple of moments, wondering and waiting, in apprehension.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity his father spoke to him, finally looking away from his herd to Troy.
“Do not listen to them, you are my son, you are mine. Do not ever forget that.” His father spoke in a harsh tone with a hint of bitterness carried throughout it.

“Yes father” was his answer.
“Good, now, follow me.” Flash turned from the herd and headed down the hill, with small Troy following closely behind. While Flash seemed to have a place in mind, he took his time leading Troy around the land, stopping occasionally to converse with the guards in hushed tones. They continued like that for most of the day, until they stopped suddenly at the woods, Flash quietly looked into the woods, gazing at a hidden path that Troy had never really pay attention to.

“Do you know what is through here?” He asked his son, still looking at the path. Troy looked to the woods then back up to Flash, then back to the woods, overgrown with moss and weeds.
“No father, I am not to go near the woods or in them, and no one has ever told me what lies behind them.” Troy said, sneaking a peek at his father’s reaction.

“Very good, and you are right. You are to never go near these woods again, only with me, or one of the guards. You understand, don’t you?” turning to Troy, he fixed him with a look that spoke of no exceptions. Nodding quickly, the palomino again gazed back at the woods.
“Father, what does lie behind the woods?” Again a long silence followed, however it was something else also crackled in the air. Troy watched as his father, who seemed to struggle to contain himself before uttering out with an angry strangled voice.

“Nothing but traitors and dogs, revolting horse filth is all that’s found out there!” he nearly screamed. Troy startled back, whenever his father was this angry it was best to just stay quiet and out of the way. Flash heaved a few seconds, large clouds of hot air escaping his nostrils, he looked somewhat of a dragon. His eyes wide and wild, his body tensed and poised, as if ready to attack an unseen opponent. He turned his feral eyes to Troy one last time, before whipping back around and heading to the top of his hill.

“You are my son, and you are to stay by my side, you understand of course.”
“…Yes, father”

…To be continued?

Oh boy! I know that was long, I hope I didn’t lose any of you. I tried to make it interesting and engaging. I’m really sorry for any misspellings, or sentences that just don’t make sense T-T only so many times I can read over my work. I also had :iconunforgivinangel: and :iconpsychonnymaniac: read over. :meow: so hopefully there should be no grammar errors. Anyway, I know I kind of failed at Flash, but I’m not good with angry people. :iconsweatplz: As for fans of Troy, who are probably saying, “THAT’S NOT TROY!” I understand where your coming from, however, in this story, Troy has been raised differently, I hope you all understand :worry: As for the actually story, my friends keep saying “I don’t understand it…RAWR…I’m confused!” Most you really won’t understand because I simply have not finished the FanFic so nothing as really been explained.

Soooo, for now I’ll just tell you the plot for this little, ha ha little, story. The idea was to have Flash, still fuming about his recent betrayal, in my mind that’s kind of how I see Flash taking it, one of his mares just up and leaving to go with another stallion. Following that, I had the idea, that poor Violet loses her baby in labor, so poor little baby Francis passes away just as he comes into the world.

This is where Troy comes into play, both Flash and Violet have a reason to despise both Darko and Rose. Darko being hated because he “stole” one of Flash’s mare, and Rose being hated because she was able to giver birth to her own foal, alive and healthy. And this is where the scheming begins, to take away the only thing both horses love, Troy. They succeed, leaving a dead Darko, with a shocked and terrorized Rose.

After a year or two of brainwashing, Troy is completely convinced that Flash and Violet are his real mother and father. Flash is content with the situation, seeming to have a form of smugness about it, that he was able to take away something so dear from the two horses that dare to disrespect him. Violet herself, is a bit brainwashed, wanting so badly to believe that her own son is now still alive, now truly believes that Troy is her only son.

Well, there you all have it ^.^” Sorry for my explanation being long to!

I wish everyone lucky on the contest :D I can’t wait to see what everyone else comes up with!
